Winter in Realp – Dining and Overnight Stays
Realp is well worth a visit even outside the regular steam railway season.
We are planning to reopen our hotel restaurant in December for the coming winter season.
The exact opening date and further information about winter operations will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
Behind the Scenes
Even when no steam trains are running along the Furka mountain route during winter, there is plenty going on behind the scenes.
In our workshops, locomotives and carriages are maintained, serviced and restored. Many dedicated volunteers help ensure that our historic vehicles can continue operating reliably on the Furka mountain route for years to come.
Realp Workshop
During the winter months, numerous maintenance and restoration tasks are carried out on our vehicles in Realp, alongside preparations for the upcoming season.
Uzwil Steam Locomotive Workshop
At the Uzwil workshop, our historic steam locomotives are maintained and restored with exceptional expertise. Traditional craftsmanship meets the experience and dedication of our specialists.
Aarau Carriage Workshop
Our historic passenger carriages also require regular maintenance and extensive restoration work. At the Aarau workshop, they are carefully preserved and prepared for future journeys along the Furka mountain route.
