The trolley was already in use on the Furka mountain line in FO times. It was mainly used for catenary service. After the acquisition of a new service vehicle, the Xmh 4961 became dispensable at the FO and could be taken over by the DFB in 1988. The vehicle has been used by DFB since the end of 1988 for transporting personnel and supplies to construction sites. It is ideal for small-scale operations, such as trackside inspections, transporting food and drink to construction sites or other tasks.
