Test run with steam from Brig to Realp via Oberwald and Gletsch

    At 07.32h  the attractive DFB steam train with the red coaches which were located  during the winter months in Brig-Glis, started to its test run to Oberwald. In this way, we wanted to ensure that the commercial jubilee runs could take place optimally at the end of June and mid-August 2014.

    On the way there were no irregularities or disturbances. Between Brig and Fürgangen-Bellwald the Jubilee locomotive HGe 4/4 II No. 401 with the  fire extinguisher train followed at block distance.

    After arriving in Oberwald, it was decided to continue the run to Realp  via the Furka-mountain line instead of via the base tunnel.


  •  On the same day, when the road over the Furka pass was reopened after the winter break, the railway line was also reopened. The locomotive no. 9 was thus able to run over the Furka mounain line  for the first time since its total 0verhaul. Between the forest and the glacier, the snow had practically melted away.

    Above Gletsch, however, snowmasses were still to be crossed, which particularly pleased the photographers. Provided they had the right footwear.
